In choosing your niche, you should have it at the back of your mind that your interest in any particular niche that you choose is very important as it is what will keep you going even when you are not seeing the kind of results you want. But then, interest alone is not enough, you have to be able to proffer some kind of solution and also ensure that the competition is something you can cope with.
When considering whether or not to specialize or generalize, it’s also best to take into account where you want to be working in and the resources that are likely to be available. On a small team, if everyone specializes, you can have serious knowledge holes that are less apparent and less likely on a large team. Often it’s the generalists who can look at something they don’t know, realize someone needs to learn it, and figure enough out to get the job done. On a good team, you need a mix of both.
As more brands move more of their business online, software as a service (SaaS) options are also being adopted. But, how can you be certain the SaaS option that seems right for your brand is actually the best fit? One expert offers her opinion. >>
Internet marketing managers are responsible for creating and implementing online marketing strategies to increase sales and revenue for a company. They maximize the technical and creative opportunities afforded by the breadth of Web-based static and social marketing in order to attract customers to the brand. Aspects of launching a campaign include design, development, advertising and transactions.
Now that we’ve established that people are using search engines to help them find delicious pizza, it’s important to understand where many of those searches are coming from. Think about it—you probably have one within arm’s reach right now. Cell phones! Today’s cell phones are equipped with the latest Web browsers, and people are catching on and taking full advantage of this feature. According to comScore, “The mobile [Internet] browser is the leading access method for seeking local information.” We are now searching for local products and services on the go. So why are mobile search trends important for a local pizzeria? Because this means that more people are now going to be searching for pizza in your local market. Accessing the Internet on a cell phone is easy and convenient, so mobile Internet usage will only continue to grow.
An Internet marketing professional needs skills in verbal and written communications, problem solving, organizing and interpreting complex data and generating ideas. Search engines are a powerful channel for connecting with new audiences. Companies like Google and Bing look to connect their customers with the best user experience possible. Step one of a strong SEO strategy is to make sure that your website content and products are the best that they can be. Step 2 is to communicate that user experience information to search engines so that you rank in the right place. SEO is competitive and has a reputation of being a black art. Here’s how to get started the right way.
(cheerful jingle) – You’ve started your own business and you need customers. In the 21st century, people are gonna come to you and say the way to get customers is to get into search engines. You have to rank, you have to rank on Google. So you go and you hire what we in the industry call a search nerd, and that person goes off and does mysterious stuff to help you move up in the rankings. And they send you a bill once a month and that’s about all you know about it. And then for the rest of the lifetime of your business, you wake up in the middle of the night screaming because of one of two things. Either A, you’re not ranking yet, or B, you’re ranking in Google and you’re terrified that for some reason, you’re gonna lose that ranking, because as it turns out, Google specifically, or a couple of search engines generally, are driving all of your customers to you and that’s your only source of business. So what’s wrong? Why has this changed? ‘Cause this is not the way marketing used to…

The fact that so many people use search engines in their daily routines can amount to a goldmine for businesses of all kinds—including your pizzeria. Imagine that you are the owner/manager of a pizzeria in Chicago and your website appears on the first page of a Google search when someone types in “pizza in Chicago,” a phrase that receives an average of 14,800 searches each month on Google alone (data provided by Google Adwords Keyword Tool). With that amount of search volume, websites on the first page of Google are going to receive a large amount of traffic from people who are interested in exactly what these sites are offering—pizza in Chicago. That is the beauty of Internet search: Customers come to you when they are most interested in what you have. Obviously, not many people are going to search for “pizza in Chicago” if they do not want pizza in Chicago. That is targeted traffic.

Gone are the days that a potential buyer would have to buy a local newspaper to search on the classified ads for properties to buy. The National Association of Realtors (NAR) sates that as far as 90% of potential home buyers start their search nowadays online. Surprised? I don’t think you should be as in […]
All are good skills. I would add “An Eye For Trends” or at least the ability to spot them. Let’s not forget either that you can’t always be hiding behind your computer. The best internet marketing pros are presenters and sales gurus too.
@Teemu I disagree. If you don’t know CSS then you can’t tell whether the folks you hire for ‘a few bucks’ are doing a decent job or not. I’ve seen far too many cases where a marketer asks a developer if they code in CSS/XHTML. The developer nods vigorously and then proceeds to build the worst crap code imaginable. The marketer then pitches a fit when they find out they have to rebuild the site.
Younger generations use the internet as their primary source of information and the older generations are using the internet to read news articles and catch up with old friends. Internet Marketing has transformed in such a way that many people don’t even realize they are viewing ads, due to the subtle nature of techniques.
The post would have been a little more pleasant to read without all the faux threats and feigned anger at the ignorance of some internet marketers who don’t know these things. Once, okay. After that the joke gets tired.

Internet marketing managers specifically deal with media buying, social networking and search engine optimization to maintain a client base and seek new clients. They must develop an online marketing plan, conduct research and utilize the most current strategies in order to position the brand in the marketplace. Other tasks include supervising search engine marketing campaigns, tracking results, analyzing statistics and working with clients. It’s important to keep an eye out for new online marketing opportunities.
Overwhelming, yes, but impossible… no. There are some things you can look for that will make choosing the right internet marketing center for you, a little easier. No two people are the same and no two programs are the same. There really isn’t a “best” it’s more about finding what is “best” for you and your skill level, needs and learning style.

However I studied all the books and courses that I found in an alley and then discovered a super-secret method that all the other gurus missed – that was written on the wall in a public bathroom – and Suddenly I had the answer and the Bull Shirt Profit Accelerator was born!
Create an Internet business plan and live it. Before starting your company’s Web site project, determine measurable goals and objectives for your company’s site, establish milestones. Make them both qualitative and quantitative. This may sound obvious, but planning is one of the most neglected areas of corporate Web site management. Your Internet business strategy should be an extension of your company’s existing business strategy and well-integrated with everything your company does off-line.
User reviews is one of the best marketing strategies to employ. Customers post their real experiences with your product and these can make new sales; at the same time they are increasing your presence on the Internet with more content.
Of course, there are millions of ways to communicate with your audience. We brought in former Early to Rise copywriter Gary to share some of the most effective blueprints with you in this strategy session. Plus we’re giving you a bonus Checklist you can use before your copy goes to peer review.
Believe that all you need is to make a glorious website. Spend months learning coding, half a year developing content, and years trying to figure out how to get traffic (once you realize that having a website is not enough).
